After Christmas I wrote about ‘Being The Best Version Of Myself’. One of the key elements of my post was looking for inspiration in the wrong places. When I corrected my course on the journey to be inspired, I turned to one area that rarely lets me down.
I am a hobby blogger and have so much to learn. I take great comfort from the journey bloggers have travelled, I know it’s not all lip gloss and proseco! So here is a round-up of blogs that I look to for all sorts of reasons and I tell you a bit about each along the way.
If you will, my Blog Recommendations for summer 2017…
Young House Love – a long time favourite of mine. YHL was first introduced to me by Michelle from In Love Again. Sherry and John Petersick are the dynamic duo of DIY, creativity and attention to detail. Their website, which includes their blog, is jammed packed with ideas, design advice and a ton of ‘thinking outside the box ideas’! I am somewhat impatient, and they have taught me to slow down and think about a space and not to just grab some paint and lash it on the walls. You can hear Sherry and John in action on their weekly pod cast. They are honest about frugality and when to spend big. In a society of throw away I am really inspired by their life style choices.
Design Mom – Having a frank discussion on the net about real life issues can often be blurred with a lack of honesty and rudeness. I check into Design Mom to join in on discussions that interest me. Gabrielle Blair is willing to ask the questions and talk about real life problems for parents from all backgrounds. I never hesitate to say what I really feel, because all constructive comments are welcome. Design Mom is home to great design ideas, recipes, parenting tips and home tours from all over the world.
Local Milk – I am drawn to Beth Kirby’s raw photography and recipe design. She embraces slow living, and hosts retreats around the world that take the student on a journey of thinking, photography and local cuisine. One of these days…
Emily Henderson – A stylist, author and TV host, Emily Hendersons shares all sorts of homes and environments on her blog. I am a lover of mid-century modern design and Emily nails it every time.
Landee Lu Design – Landee Anderson, whom I have followed for many years, has the best printables ever and I wait in earnest for each holiday to roll around so I can snap up what she offers. Recipes, DIY, craft, printables…she has it all!
The Londoner – Ah, Rosie the Londoner – fashionista, traveller, explorer, foodie and dog lover. I am not quite sure if that’s the most worthy introduction to The Londoner…best check it out for yourself! I follow Rosie The Londoner for her travel diaries, recipies and personal style. From London to Greece to the States, Rosie shares places to eat, places to see and things to do. I have written about wanting to travel more, so I am taking notes 😉
Dainty Dress Diaries – Catherine Carton is one of the most honest ‘real life’ bloggers who is willing to share her learning curve experiences with her readers. Her style is shabby chic vintage, and her up-styling and craft reflects her love of floral and pastels. I find Catherine’s posts refreshing and well worth a read.
Oh She Glows – I am not a vegan, but do love to dapple in vegan meals for my family. Angela Liddon is a self-taught recipe creator and photographer. I admire her journey of self determination; I love her recipes and her support for any one who would like to explore a vegan diet.
Oh Happy Day – I am a party loving woman, mom, gal, sister….. and Oh Happy Day are, in a nut shell, one step ahead of everyone when it comes to party decor. Simply the best! If you ever thought about jumping out of a cake, you need to visit the Oh Happy Day Blog.
Life on Virginia Street – Blogger Sarah Stewart seems to move projects at the speed of light! I have tried to telepathicly channel her enthusiasm and drive, but I think the phone lines are down… Her travel photography is quite beautiful and I am book-marking her recent trip to Italy.
Design Love Fest – Here is my fix of sunshine, food, interior design, all the while steeped in a 1970’s vibe. I love the messy photos, but at the same time are styled to perfection. I am blown away by Bri’s travel photography; and her ability to seek out interesting places in the craziest of colours is never ending. Food for my soul.
